Vintage PLANET OF THE APES Lunchbox & Thermos Sc-Fi (1974) C-8.5 Awesome

PLANET OF THE APES METAL LUNCHBOX from Aladdin Industries 1974. This very rare R-7 embossed lunchkit is based on the short-lived 14-epsiode TV series on CBS. Storyline: Based on the original 1968 POTA movie - Hurled 1,100 years into the future, astronauts Alan Virdon and Pete Burke find themselves in a society where humans are subservient to super-intelligent apes. Their situation is made more bearable by Galen (played here by Roddy McDowall), a young sympathetic chimp who comes to question whether humans are, indeed, an inferior species.

Another artistic masterpiece by AL art director Elmer Lehnhardt with his awesome use of color and characters. This is some truly incredible artwork! One of our all-time favorite TV-based kits and an extremely hard one to find in this condition. Simply a must-have for any fan of this ongoing sci-fi franchise!

Condition: Box and thermos are complete and correct (including original wire thermos holder). Box lithos on all panels are clean and glossy throughout - with no blemishes to the raised areas on the main panels so typical on these vintage embossed boxes. Light rim wear on front - a bit heavier on back. A tiny dimple on the bottom left corner of back panel. Inside is also very clean with a few minor rubbings - and free of any previous owner markings.

In overall Excellent plus C-8.5 condition. Thermos decal is very clean - in overall Near Mint C-9.0 condition. From my personal collection stored carefully in a cool, dry, smoke-free room away from sunlight.
